Clayton R. Caffrey, 84, of Carbondale, PA, died Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at VNA Hospice, Scranton, PA. His wife the former Rose Marie Grizzanti died on December 24, 2009.
Born in Endicott, NY, he was the son of the late James and Doris Davis Caffrey.
Clayton was an Army veteran of the Korean War having received a Purple Heart for injuries received during combat. He was a retired machinist and a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church, Carbondale. Clayton enjoyed fishing, golfing and bowling.
He is survived by four children: Rose Ann Mensel, Michael Caffrey, James Caffrey and wife Karen and Joan Marie Pechusick and husband Butch all of Carbondale, PA; one sister: Joan Sangeimino of Whiting, NJ; one brother: Paul Caffrey of Oregon; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one daughter: Sharon McIntyre.
A private funeral was held Monday, February 29, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. from the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with services at 11:00 a.m. in Trinity Episcopal Church, 58 River Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. Edward Erb. Interment with military honors, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
Pallbearers: James Caffrey, Jr., Thomas McIntyre Sr., Thomas McIntyre, Jr., Zachary Herr, Shawn Cunningham and Andy Pechusick.
Family called Monday, February 29, 2016 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
