Charleen L. Durling, 70, of RR 1 Nicholson, PA., died Saturday afternoon, November 10, 2007 as a result of a fire at her home. She was the wife of the late Richard N. Durling, who died October 17, 1978.
Born May 8, 1937 in Carbondale, PA., she was the daughter of the late John and Josephine (Hanyon) Barney. She was employed as a licensed beautician and cosmetologist. For many years, she was a foster mother and participated in the Fresh Air Program which allowed inner city children the opportunity to experience life in the country.
She loved animals especially horses. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed.
She is survived by three sons: Jack Barney of Lenoxville, PA., Charles D. Durling of Carbondale, PA. and Dale Durling of Lenox , PA.; two daughters: Bonnie Pulice of South Gibson, PA. and Renee Taramelli of Montrose, PA.; thirteen grandchildren: Mandy Mundrick, Brent Barney, Matthew, Richard, Nicholas and Charles A. Durling, Rachel, Angela and Sarah Pulice, Anthony, Theresa, Mandy and Natasha Taramelli; two great granddaughters: Abby and Autumn Mundrick; one brother: Charles; two sisters: Martha and Gloria.
She was preceded in death by one brother: John; one sister: Mae; an infant grandson: Jonathan. A blessing service was held Thursday, November 15, 2007 at 10:00 AM from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home, Dundaff Main Streets, Clifford, PA., with the Rev. William D. Campbell, senior priest at St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale, officiating. Interment, Clifford Valley Cemetery, Clifford.
Friends called Wednesday, November 14, 2007 from 6-9 PM. Pallbearers: Charles D. Durling, Charles A. Durling, Brent Barney, Richard Durling, Nicholas Durling, Anthony Taramelli and John Barney.
