Cathy Lynn Nitterauer, RN, 74, of South Gibson, PA, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at home. Her husband and best friend, Walter Nitterauer, Jr. died on September 2, 2023. They were married on August 13, 1976.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late William and Lillian Becker Aderhold.

Cathy graduated from Springfield Township High School, Montgomery County, in 1967. After high school, she graduated from Germantown Dispensary and Hospital School of Nursing. Her 40-year career included working in four states in multiple positions from administration to medical nurse. Her first love was always the emergency department.

She and her family moved to South Gibson in 1988, where she worked several places before her retirement in October of 2011. Most important to her was her faith, husband and children.

She is survived by one son: Walter N. Nitterauer, III. who is serving with the U.S. Navy in Pax River, MD; one step-daughter: Katie Nitterauer of Glenside, PA; two step-grandchildren: Mairead and Morgan; one sister: Cherie Shearouse and husband, James of Sneads Ferry, NC; one niece and one nephew.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter: Elizabeth Nitterauer.

The funeral for Cathy and Walter was held Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA, with Pastor Ray Mitchell of the South New Milford Baptist Church, officiating. Interment, South Gibson Cemetery, South Gibson, PA.

Pallbearers: James Shearouse, Peter Shearouse, Ryan McAllister, Ethan McAllister, Brendan Herley and Alexander Frascone.

Viewing hours were held Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
