Catherine L. Kay Dick, age 68, of Carbondale, PA., died Sunday afternoon, November 11, 2012 at the VNA Hospice Inpatient Unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA. Her husband of 48 years is Joseph A. Dick, Sr. They were married October 3, 1964.
Born March 11, 1944 in Carbondale, PA., she is the daughter of Josephine (Trelc) Skubic of Carbondale, PA.
She was a 1964 graduate of Fell High School, Simpson and a member of the Albert H. Crane American Legion Post 221 Ladies Auxiliary. She was generous, loving, caring and was an avid New York Yankees fan. She also enjoyed her trips to the casino and shopping. She loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren and will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by two sons: Joseph Dick, Jr. and Mark Dick and wife Angel, all of Carbondale, PA.; two daughters: Karen Blake and husband Brian of Carbondale Township, PA. and Sherry Shaw of Carbondale, PA.; five grandchildren: Kayla Dick, Damien Shaw, Nathen Shaw, Elyssa Shaw and Matthew Dick; two sisters: Joyce Carachilo of Carbondale, PA. and Barbara Houman of Waymart, PA.; three brothers: Joseph Haney of Forest City, PA., Donald Haney of Carbondale, PA. and Robert Haney of Waymart, PA.; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: Edward Dinky Davis and Ronald Haney.
The funeral was held Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at 10:00 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise FuneralHome and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Monsignor David Tressler, pastor. Entombment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
Friends called Tuesday, November 13, 2012 from 4-8 PM.
Pallbearers: Thomas Blake, David Carachilo, Anthony Carachilo, Bobby Speicher, Rob Jones and Shawn Osbourne.
