Carrie E. Miller, age 95, of Clifford, PA., passed away Thursday morning, October 18, 2007 at home. She was the wife of the late Freeman Gould Miller, who died July 21, 1997.
Born June 10, 1912 in Dundaff, PA., she was the daughter of the late William and Clara (Rivenburg) Coleman. She was a former member of St. James Episcopal Church in Dundaff and also attended the Clifford United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of the Binghamton Central High School in Binghamton, NY. and worked several years at the Clifford Dress Factory. She was a charter member of the Clifford Township Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and the Lenoxville Senior Citizen Center where she wrote a column about local news in the area for several years in the Forest City Newspaper. She enjoyed various carpentry work and built many things for the house and her family over the years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will dearly be missed by her family.
She is survived by one daughter: Carol Hallion of Lenox Township, PA.; two sons: Robert wife Judy Miller of Alexandria, LA. and Richard Miller of Showlow, AZ.; 6 Grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren; Several Nieces Nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother: Bryce Coleman; five sisters: June Phillips, Madeline Spears, Fern Beam, Mae Kiss and Evelyn Powell. The funeral was held Monday, October 22, 2007 at 2:00 PM from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home, Dundaff Main Streets, Clifford, with the Rev. Dale Chasse, pastor of the Worth Baptist Church, Jermyn, PA., officiating. Interment, Clifford Valley Cemetery, Clifford.
Friends called Sunday, October 21, 2007 from 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to the Clifford Township Volunteer Fire Company. Pallbearers: Rickey Christensen, Matthew Donofrio, Charles Vanderberg, James Vanderberg, Sal Taglireni and George Spedding.
