Carolyn Elaine Ransom, 81, of Lenoxville, PA, died Monday, March 2, 2026 at Allied Services Hospice, Scranton, PA. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Donald R. Ransom. They were married April 28, 1962.

Born April 24, 1944 in Carbondale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Eileta Barber Jones.

Carolyn was a graduate of Mountain View High School and worked as a bookkeeper for Johnson Motors, Lenoxville, and the Community Bank, Clifford. She was a member of the Lenoxville United Methodist Church and sang in its choir.

She enjoyed hunting, cooking, singing, dancing and her many RV and camping trips with her family. She was very active with the Boy Scouts and South Gibson Little League. She was also an avid shopper and grammy to all who knew her.

Carolyn's greatest joy in life was caring for her family. She cherished the time spent with them and especially enjoyed their yearly family reunions, “Up on the Hill.”

She is also survived by three children: Donald (Sheri) Ransom, Jr., Sue Dayton and Randy (Janey) Ransom, all of Clifford Township, PA; eight grandchildren: Mikayla (Donnie) Dougher; Kody (Kristin) Ransom, Morgan (Dan) Omernik, Alyza and Ranger Ransom, Aaron (Maddi) Jodon, Lucas and Emmett Jodon; eight great grandchildren: Bella Dayton, Aubrey and Donnie Z. Dougher, Lane and Saylor Bates (Sarah and Jay), Lincoln Jodon, Damon Omerik and Lyla Jodon; one sister: Marilyn (Walter) Turner; two sisters-in-law: Carol and Sandy Jones; several nieces and nephews and Matt and Tammy Hunter who are like children to her and Donnie.

She was preceded in death by her grandson: Zachary Dayton; and two brothers: Terry and Allen Jones.

The funeral will be held Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA, with Rev. Patricia Hanley, officiating. Interment will follow at the Welsh Hill Cemetery, Union Dale, PA.

Friends may call Friday, March 6, 2026 from 4-7 p.m.
