Carol Ann Canfield, 70, of South Gibson, PA., died Friday, November 6, 2015 at home after a brief battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Richard Canfield.
Born April 14, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Hedwig Jean Nowakowski Zimowski.
Carol had been employed as a dress maker at the Clifford Dress Factory for many years and later worked in the accounting department at Elk Mountain Ski Resort, Union Dale, PA and Camp Chen-A-Wanda, Thompson, PA. She attended St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Jackson, PA.
Carol enjoyed gardening and was known for her green thumb. She will be fondly remembered by her family for her kind and generous heart, especially towards children. Being around children, especially her grandchildren brought great joy and meaning to her life.
She is survived by two sons: Michael Canfield and wife Louise of Union Dale, PA and Jamie Canfield and wife Kristen of South Gibson, PA; one daughter: Michelle Mazzocchi and husband Edward of Nicholson, PA; ten grandchildren: Sebastian, Isaiah, Nathaniel, Kayla, Justin, Abigayle, Alisyn, Hailey, Kassidy and Hayden; one great grandson: Chance.
She was preceded in death by one brother: Frank Zimowski; one sister: Harriet O'Brien; one nephew: James O'Brien.
A blessing service was held Monday, November 23, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. from Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA, officiated by Rev. Michael J. Kirwin, pastor of St. John Vianney Parish, Royal, PA.
Friends called Monday, November 23, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions were sent to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Drive, Wilkes Barre, PA 18702
