Obituary

Carmella Tancredo Fitch, 85, of Lake Hiawatha, NJ. and formerly of Carbondale, PA., died Wednesday morning, August 23, 2006 at St. Clare Hospitals Compassionate Care Hospice Unit, Dover, NJ., after a brief illness. She was the wife of John (Jack) Fitch who died February 29, 1992. Born February 15, 1921 in Carbondale, PA., she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Maria Sansafarina Tancredo. She attended Carbondale Schools and was employed by the old Carbondale General Hospital. She was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Parsippany, NJ. When World War II was underway and Jack went off to war, Carmella became one of the many Rosie the Riveters. She worked with equipment for airplane parts for Breeze Corporation in New Jersey. Her Rosie memories are in the World War II Archives in Virginia. She resided in New Jersey for 63 years, she was very active and she enjoyed taking many seniors trips. She frequently ventured into New York City on her own to see a Broadway show and to stop in to say a prayer at St. Patricks Cathedral. She will be sorely missed. She is survived by one sister: Teresa Trunzo of Little Egg Harbor, NJ.; one brother: Anthony Tancredi of Hornell, NY.; two sisters-in-law: Mary Fitch-Olsewski of Linden, NJ. and Dorothy Fitch-Mullin and husband Tom of Easton, PA.; one brother-in-law: Francis Buddy Fitch and wife Vera of Inverness, FL.; Many loving nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and several devoted and attentive neighbors in Lake Hiawatha, NJ. also survive her. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter: Sharon; three brothers: Frank, Joseph and Ralph Tancredo; two sisters: Maria Imbalzano and Phyllis Pingarelli The funeral was held Saturday, August 26, 2006 at 9:30 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. William Campbell, senior priest. Interment, Calvary Cemetery, Mayfield, PA. Friends called Friday, August 25, 2006 from 2-4 7-9 PM Pallbearers: Anthony, John and Ralph Imbalzano, Frank and James Tancredo, Michael Rotolo, Paul Olsewski, Thomas and Kevin Mullin, all Nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 179 Baldwin Road, Parsippany, NJ 07054.
