Obituary

Carl A. Alampi, Sr., age 80, of Greenfield Township, PA., died early Friday morning, April 4, 2003 at the VNA Hospice Pallative Care Center of Lackawanna County Inpatient Unit at Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale. His wife is the former Joan M. VanNort. Born December 8, 1922 in Carbondale, PA. He was the son of the late Phillip and Concetta (Angello) Alampi. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale. He was a graduate of Ben Franklin High School. He taught industrial arts through Penn State University. He was a self-employed auto mechanic for over 65 years and owned and operated Carls Auto Service in Carbondale. He was an avid musician, fisherman and hunter. He had a strong love for horses and airplanes. He also enjoyed traveling to the casinos in Atlantic City. He played in the band The Crystals and was a business administrator for the American Federation of Musicians Local 130. He was a member of the Elk Club, the Pennsylvania Fraternal Order of Police, honary member of the Pennsylvania Sheriffs Association and a conducter for the American Legion Marching Band. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who loved him. He is survived by seven daughters: Crystal Marie Alampi of Greenfield Township, PA., Carolyn Matrone of Clarks Summit, PA., Ann Marie Wayman-Alampi of Jermyn, PA., Donna Hajos of Heart Lake, PA., Rita DiLeo of Archbald, PA., Joyce Ulibarri of Las Vegas, NV. and Jean Marie Long of Jessup, PA.; one son: Carl A. Alampi, Jr. of Las Vegas, NV.; 16 Grandchildren; 7 Great Grandchildren; Nieces Nephews He was preceded in death by one sister: Jennie Prebich The funeral was held Monday, April 7, 2003 at 9:00 am from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. Russell Motsay, pastor. Interment, Our Mother Of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township Pallbearers: Dr. Alphonse Matrone, Mario Matrone, Daniel Pisanti, Joseph Graziano, John Van Nort, Robert Van Nort, Dennis and Scott Wayman Visitation was held Sunday, April 6, 2003 from 5-9 pm.
