Boyd A. Resseguie, age 84, of Chiefland, FL., died Friday evening, February 22, 2008 at the Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center, Gainesville, FL. His wife is the former Shirley Anne Baker.
Born March 21, 1923 in South Gibson, PA., he was the son of the late Franklin Fitch and Grace (Brundage) Resseguie.
He was a former member of the South Gibson United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of the Harford High School and also graduated from Farm Auction School in 1952. He was an auctioneer for 50 years owned and operated Owego New York Livestock Sales Central Livestock in Apulia Station, New York. Before retirement, he was a real estate broker for a short time. He was a charter member and the first and past vice president of the New York State Horse Pullers Association.
He was a Marine Corp veteran serving in World War II and was proud that he participated in the reenactment flag raising photo in Iwo Jima. He was a charter member and 3rd commandant of the Elk Mountain VFW Post 8488, charter member and 3rd commander of the Tri-County Detachment 1018, life member of the Marine Corp League, member of the American Legion and past commander of the American Legion in Marathon, NY., 60 year member of the 896 Brother of Tully Mason Lodge, member of the Fraternal Order of the Moose Lodge, Fanning Springs, FL. and past president of the Tully, NY Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed horse pulling, playing poker, reading and billiards, was an avid NY Yankee fan and collected Louie Lamore western books. He is survived by seven daughters: Gale Resseguie of Owego, NY., Sandy husband Bob Keene of Harford, PA., Judy husband Bill Harmer of Clifford, PA., Bonnie Resseguie of Clifford, PA., Cindy husband Jim Warren of Lakeside, PA., Vicki husband Bruce Somes of Cato, NY. and Shelly husband Rick Bagley of Fultonville, NY.; one son: Brian Resseguie of Cato, NY.; 25 Grandchildren; 6 Great Grandchildren; Several Nieces Nephews. He was preceded in death by eleven brothers sisters; three grandchildren. The funeral was held Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 10:00 AM from the South Gibson United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Barbara Doan, pastor, officiating. Interment with Military Honors from the Elk Mountain VFW Post 8488, South Gibson Cemetery, South Gibson, PA.
Friends called Friday, February 29, 2008 from 4-8 PM at the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Dundaff Main Streets, Clifford, PA.
