Obituary

Billy Talarico, 49, of Old Forge, PA., died Friday night, March 18, 2011 at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. His wife of 7 years is the former Jessie Profka. Born September 30, 1961 in Taylor, PA., he was the son of Joseph and Barbara Talarico of Old Forge. Prior to his illness, he had been employed as a truck driver for Old Dominion, Pittston, PA. He was a member of St. Ann's Basilica, Scranton, PA. and was an active member of the Triboro Soccer League. He especially enjoyed coaching soccer and being involved with children. He was a self taught soccer coach having learned the game after his children took an interest in it. His favorite pastime was watching soccer and ice hockey and he was a big fan of the Philadelphia Flyers. He was a devoted husband and father who cherished every moment spent with his family. He will always be remembered by his wife and children as a family man. He is survived by five children: Maria and Vincent Talarico of Old Forge, PA. and R.J., Luke and Jake Talarico at home; brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 10:30 AM from St. Ann Basilica, 1229 St. Ann Street, Scranton, celebrated by Rev. Michael Salvagna, C.P., parochial vicar, Rev. Roger Elliott, C.P., and Rev. Francis Landry, C.P., pastor. Friends called Saturday from 9:30 - 10:30 AM at the church. Arrangements were conducted by the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
