Obituary

Beverly Lewis Lepre Sokolowsky, 80, of Dickson City, PA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior early Tuesday morning, February 13, 2018 at the Mountain View Care Center, Scranton, PA, after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Her husband of 34 years, John Sokolowsky, Sr., died in 2014. Born and raised in Gibson, PA, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Gertrude Marcy Lewis. Beverly graduated from the Academy of Master Stylists as a beautician on Merritt Island, FL, in 1971. She worked hard as a single mother to her five boys while going to work at JM Fields as a cashier while attending school. She also cleaned houses in Cocoa Beach and Winter Park, FL. during the early and late 1970's. Prior to retirement in 1999, she had been a cashier at the Salvation Army Store in Scranton. After retiring she enjoyed doing volunteer care giving work for her neighbors. She and her husband, John were longtime members of the Faith Baptist Church in Peckville, PA, where they were worshiped for 38 years. As faithful and devoted Christians they served the church as Deacon and Deaconess, while John also served as treasurer and Beverly took care of the Nursery as a volunteer babysitter. Together they were dedicated to spreading the love and salvation message of Jesus Christ. Beverly was kind to all people and animals and exemplified the meaning of serving Jesus first and others second with much love and kindness. She was loved by all who came to know her and she will be greatly missed. Her favorite bible passage was 1 John 1:1-10, because it had a special meaning of how she was saved in 1970, and her life was completely changed for the better. Our family would like to thank the staff at Mountain View Care Center, Moses Taylor Hospital, Dr. Heim and staff, ProCare Rehab, Aaron Noznick and Staff, Marvin and Sharon Koenke and her neighbors for the compassionate and loving care shown to our mom during her illness. She is survived by five sons: Jerry Lepre and companion Mary Ann of Scranton, PA Francis Lepre and companion Rhonda of Empire, CA, John Lepre and wife Julie of Kingsley, PA, Michael Lepre and companion Susie of Hop Bottom, PA and Jeffrey Lepre of Scranton, PA; six step children: Jimmy Lepre and wife Doreen, Bobby Lepre and wife Linda, Billy Lepre and wife Bernadette all of Carbondale, PA Patricia Suits and husband Roger of Edison, NJ, John Sokolowsky, Jr. and wife Loretta of Moosic, PA and Carol Skamanich and husband Michael of North Carolina; one brother: Theron Lewis and wife Ruth of Johnson City, NY; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
