Betty M. Werner, 84, of Gouldsboro, PA, died Monday, December 21, 2015 at VNA Hospice, Scranton, PA. She was the wife of Donald J. Werner, MD., who died on December 9, 1998. Born December 25, 1930 in March, England, she was the daughter of the late John and Elsie Norman West. Betty was raised and educated in Cambridge, England. At the age of 21 she met her future husband who was stationed at Lakenheath military base as a physician. After their marriage in 1952, Betty came to the United States where they settled in Gouldsboro and Dr. Werner established his medical practice. Up until her husband's death, Betty served as his office manager, while raising their six children. Betty will always be remembered as a loving and devoted wife and mother who was mild mannered, kind and always an optimist. The family would like to thank VNA Home Health and Hospice as well as, the VNA Hospice Inpatient Unit at Geisinger-CMC for the compassionate care given to Betty during her final days. She is survived by three sons: David Werner and wife Melva of Gouldsboro, PA, Gregory Werner and wife Dawn of Gouldsboro, PA and John Werner and wife Pam of Huntingtown, MD; three daughters: Susan Parise and husband Louis "Chip" of Archbald, PA, Jayne Villani and husband Kevin of Columbia, NJ and Ann Millan and husband Douglas of Spring Brook Township, PA; 18 grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brother's: David and Norman West. A private funeral service was held Wednesday, December 23, 2015 from the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA, with Pastor Peg Knapich, of the Gouldsboro and Thornhurst United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment, Moscow Cemetery, Moscow, PA. Pallbearers: Mark Miller, Alexander Millan, Kyle Werner, Alexander Werner, Mathew Werner, Michael Werner and Fred Gray.
