Bettie Lou (Wiley) Congdon, 61, of Olyphant, PA. and formerly of Carbondale, PA., died Sunday, November 14, 2010 at home. Born July 11, 1949 in Pottsville, PA., her foster parents were the late Claire and Hazel Bellamy of Carbondale. She was a graduate of the Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and a member of Holy Cross Parish, Olyphant. She worked in home health for many years and her last place of employment was Haband Company, Inc., Jessup. She enjoyed life and working on puzzles with her best friend Sharon Laguzzi. Her greatest joy in life was taking care of her children and grandchildren. She is survived by one son: William A. Congdon of Dundaff, PA.; one daughter: Melessia Briggs and husband Chad of Eynon, PA.; two grandchildren: William Congdon, III. and Caleb Burdge; one sister: Joanne Wiley of Hawley, PA.; one foster brother: Ronald Bellamy of Lake Ariel, PA.; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one foster brother: Vernon Bellamy. The funeral was held Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 12:00 PM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview 41st Streets, Carbondale, with Rev. Sharon Dietz, pastor of the Peckville United Methodist Church, Peckville, PA., officiating. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst, PA. Pallbearers: William Congdon, Chad Briggs, John Briggs, Jr., Ronald Bellamy, Neil Furiosi and Chris Meinzer Friends called Wednesday from 10:00 AM until service time.
