Obituary

Bertram R. Bert Goodrich, of Dalton, PA., passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the age of 98. His wife is the former Mildred Wells. They would have celebrated their 77th wedding anniversary on December 26th. Born in Carbondale, PA., he was the son of the late Ralph and Carrie Bell Goodrich. He was a graduate of the Carbondale High School and was retired from the Murray Corporation in Scranton, PA. where he worked for 36 years. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a lifetime member of the Factoryville Sportsman Club. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening and watching sports. Bert was known for his beautiful duck and bird carvings which he took such pride in. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is also survived by a granddaughter: Linda Goodrich of Scott Township, PA; a sister: Jane Buck and husband Walter of New Jersey; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son: Ralph; and two brothers: Robert and Merle. Bert's family would like to thank the staff of Southern Care and Ascera Care Home Health - Mid Valley Hospital for their kindness and wonderful care. A special thank you to all who showed support and kindness. The funeral was held Friday at 2:00 PM from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA., with Rev. Kenneth Leamon, officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Sandy Banks Cemetery, Greenfield Township. Friends called Friday from 1:00 - 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions were made to the Dalton Fire Company, 109 South Turnpike Road, Dalton, PA 18414 or the Greenfield Township Historical Society, 423 Hickory Ridge Road, Greenfield Twp., PA 18407.
