Obituary

Beatrice C. Kohut, 87, of Carbondale, PA, died Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Regional Hospital, Scranton, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Kohut on September 14, 2004. Born October 12, 1934 in Carbondale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Beatrice Gilroy McLaughlin. Beatrice was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale, and had been employed as a seamstress at Cindy Frocks in Carbondale. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Beatrice was an avid reader and spent many hours working crossword puzzle books. Sitting on the porch visiting with neighbors and hearing all the news gave her so much joy. Most of all she was her childrens best friend. Her love will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew her. She is survived by three children: Peter Kohut of Carbondale, PA, Kelly Williams and husband, Daniel of Carbondale, PA and Eva Granville and husband, Michael of Jermyn, PA; six grandchildren: Shawn Kohut, Nathan Williams, Aaron Williams, Alex Granville and wife, Amy, Nick Granville and wife, Ashley and Emily Granville; two great grandchildren: Elias Granville and Beatrice Kohut; two sisters: Sister Ann McLaughlin, IHM. of Scranton, PA and Esther Franceski of Carbondale, PA; and two nieces. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, December 27, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church Street, Carbondale, PA, celebrated by Rev. Jeffrey Walsh, pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Arrangements were entrusted to Edward A. Wade Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
