Barbara E. Lynady, 79, of Carbondale, PA, died Friday, August 20, 2021 at home after an illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Lynady on January 23, 1961. Born February 27, 1942 in Union Dale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ivan Milton "Pat" Barney and the late Sarah Adams Barney. Barbara was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale, and the ladies' auxiliary of the Albert H. Crane American Legion Post 221, Carbondale. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, loved her scratch off lottery tickets and assisted with fundraising for the Toys For Tots Foundation. She loved all "her boys". She is survived by two children: C.J. Lynady and companion, Cindy Harvey of Carbondale, PA and April Short and husband, James of Browndale, PA; six grandchildren: Charles Lynady, Heather Lynady, Jimmy Short and wife, Sarah, Kelsey Short and fiancé, Chad Griffith, Jason Lynady and Dawn Lynady; six great grandchildren: Charles IV., Christopher James, Sierra, Konrad, Isabella, and Abbey; two sisters: Marbeth Tate of Florida and Patrice Cost of Hop Bottom, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a son: Edward Lynady; three brothers: Kermit, Darryl and Jerry Barney; and three sisters: Gail Cain, Deanna Counterman and Sonya Mullisky. The funeral was held Tuesday, August 24, 2021 with a blessing service at 10:00 a.m. from Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, PA.
