Antoinette M. Striefsky, 85, of Carbondale, PA., died Saturday, January 9, 2010 at the Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton, PA. She was the wife of the late Leo J. Striefsky, who died September 17, 1987. Born October 1, 1924 in Carbondale, PA., she was the daughter of the late Paul and Margaret (Pollitts) Carachilo, Sr. She was a graduate of the Benjamin Franklin High School, Class of 1942 and was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and its Altar and Rosary Society, Carbondale. She was a member of the Marian Community Hospital auxiliary, Carbondale and the Red Hatters of the small town of Simpson. She was also a member and past president of the ladies auxiliary of the VFW, Post 4712, Simpson, PA. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as a seamstress in the local garment industry. She was an avid card player and enjoyed playing with her friends from the Ideal Card Club. She loved cooking for her family and she was extremely proud of her grandchildren. She is survived by one son: Paul Striefsky and wife Lindsey of Somers Point, NJ.; two daughters: Lisa Levine and husband Atty. Jeffrey of Carbondale, PA. and Linda Carlson and husband James of Cleveland Heights, OH.; five grandsons: David, Paul and Daniel Carlson and Aaron and Matthew Levine; a daughter-in-law: Kathleen Striefsky of Carbondale, PA.; five brothers: Joseph Carachilo of Carbondale, PA., Thomas Carachilo of Carbondale, PA., Paul Carachilo and wife Rose of Mayfield, PA., Carmino Carachilo and wife Elizabeth of Mayfield, PA. and George Carachilo and wife Joyce of Carbondale, PA.; one sister: Sadie Tomcykowski of Carbondale, PA.; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son: Leon J. Striefsky, who died April 18, 2003; three brothers: Anthony, John and Dominick Carachilo; one sister: Diane Palutis. The funeral was held Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 8:30 AM from the Carmine J. and Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. Russell E. Mostay, pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Dominick Carachilo, Jr., Joseph Carachilo, David Carachilo, Michael Carachilo, Mark Carachilo, Michael Palutis, Dr. Paul Tomcykowski and Stanley Striefsky -- all nephews.
