Anthony C. Liuzzo, 86, a lifelong resident of Carbondale, PA., died Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at VNA Hospice, Scranton, PA. He was the husband of the former Dolores A. Gonus, who died June 20, 2003. Born August 28, 1925 in Carbondale, PA., he was the son of the late Joseph and Carmella (DePoti) Liuzzo. He was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and was a Navy veteran having served during World War II with the Seabee's. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a salesman for various local bakeries. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother who will be dearly missed by his family. He is survived by three sons: Anthony Liuzzo and wife Loraine of Lancaster, PA., Lawrence Liuzzo and wife Elizabeth of Quincy, MA. and Michael Liuzzo and wife Barb of Carbondale, PA.; one sister: Dora Falbo and husband Joe of Carbondale, PA.; one brother: Thomas Liuzzo and wife Faith Ann of Carbondale, PA.; one sister-in-law: Teresa Liuzzo of Mayfield, PA.; eight grandchildren: Tony Liuzzo and wife Julie of Yardley, PA., Lauren DeCristofaro and husband Rick of Waymouth, MA., Jack Liuzzo and fiance Katie Walsh of Quincy, MA., Larry Liuzzo and Timmy Liuzzo both of Quincy, MA., Erica Liuzzo of Scranton, PA., Dan Liuzzo and fiance Taryn Mellody of Carbondale, PA. and Sarah Rosler and husband Keith of Carbondale, PA.; four great grandchildren: Zachary, Trevor and Caleb Liuzzo and Jacob Anthony Rosler; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter: Lisa Ann T. Liuzzo; four brothers: Joseph, John, Richard and Patrick Liuzzo. The funeral was held Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 9:00 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. Russell E. Motsay, pastor and Deacon Carmine Mendicino. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Rick DeCristofaro, Keith Rosler, Tony, Jack, Dan, Larry, Tim and Kevin Liuzzo. Friends called Friday, December 30, 2011 from 5-8 PM.
