Anthony J. Grizzanti, Sr., age 92, of Carbondale, PA. passed away peacefully Friday evening, April 2, 2004. He and his wife, the former Anne Caudullo, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on September 3, 2003.
Born July 20, 1911 in Century, WV. He was the son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Geracia) Grizzanti.
He started his employment working for the local coal companies, then worked for Wilson Foods, Inc. in Scranton, PA. After retirement, he served as a representative for the local coal miners union and assisted his two sons with their individual businesses.
He was a devoted member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Carbondale and was a loving and devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and great grandfather. He continually supported family and friends and set an example of good morals and strong faith. His absence will be felt by all who knew him.
He is survived by two sons: Anthony J. Grizzanti, Jr. of Carbondale, PA. and Joseph Grizzanti of Peckville, PA.; one sister: Mary Sweder of Carbondale, PA.; 6 Grandchildren; 8 Great Grandchildren; Several Nieces Nephews
He was preceded in death by one sister: Angeline Russo; three brothers: Todd, Samuel, and Michael Grizzanti
The funeral was held Monday, April 5, 2004 at 9:00 am from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. Russell Motsay, pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
Friends called Sunday, April 4, 2004 from 6-9 pm. Pallbearers: Anthony Grizzanti, III, David Grizzanti, Michael Grizzanti, Joey Mazza, Joseph Lopes, Charlie Scavo, Robert Tomaine, and Fran Zimerovitz.
