Anthony J. Corky Cortese, Sr. age 82, of Carbondale, PA., died Thursday afternoon, October 13, 2005 home after an illness. His wife is the former Julia Erzin. Born January 5, 1923 in Carbondale, PA., he was the son of the late Peter and Loretta (Badolato) Cortese. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He retired in 1985 from National Standard Company, Carbondale. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale. He was and avid golfer and was a fan of the New York Giants and the Brooklyn Dodgers. He was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and friends. He is survived by four daughters: Loretta Lesniewski and husband Frank of Uniondale, PA., Judith Daley and husband William of Carbondale, PA., Delores Lasavage and husband John of Carbondale, PA. and Kathleen Cominsky and husband Jeffrey of Oaks, PA.; one son: Anthony J. Jr. and wife Danielle of Bethlehem, PA.; one sister: Theresa Helland of Willimantic, CT.; two brothers: Joseph and wife Sophie of Bellville, NJ. and George and wife Della of Eynon, PA.; 16 Grandchildren; 14 Great Grandchildren; Several Nieces and Nephews. The funeral was held Monday, October 17, 2005 at 9:00 am from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. Russell Motsay, pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Friends called Sunday, October 16, 2005 from 5 to 9 pm. Pallbearers: All grandsons-Attorney Jim Tierney, Frank Lesniesky, Mark Lesniesky, Joshua Lasavage, Zack Lasavage, Bill Daley, Brian Daley, Chris Daley and Anthony John Cortese, III.
