Anthony H. Borovicka, 57, Hawley, PA, died Monday, February 9, 2015 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, PA. His wife is the former Lynne Smith-Mayer. Born June 13, 1957 in New York, NY, he was the son of the late George and Grace May Borovicka. When he lived in New York City, he was a member of the New York City Auxiliary Police and worked at Dan's Cougars Children's Sports Club as well as an assistant boy scout master. Prior to his disability, he had been employed as a corrections officer at the Wayne County Prison in Honesdale and most recently as a security guard at Delaware Valley Job Corps in Callicoon, NY. He was also associated with the family business, B & G Video in Honesdale. His passion was fire fighting and police work and he enjoyed being a volunteer for the fire police and ambulance corps of the Tafton and Hawley Fire Departments. He is survived by a step son: Anthony Mayer of Hawley, PA; a sister: Mary Borovicka of New York; a brother: George Borovicka of New York; several nieces, nephews & cousins. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
