Obituary

Anne Marie Piccotti, 87, of Boise, Idaho, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2022.

She was born in Bristol, PA, on May 11, 1935 to Jetmund "Jerry" and Anna (Lappan) Litell, and was raised in California, along with her brother and three sisters. Through her Catholic upbringing and education, she had the opportunity to travel to Rome for a month-long pilgrimage in 1950 where she had a private audience with Pope Pius XII to celebrate the Holy Year. Anne Marie thought often of that international trip and the many places she was able to see and experience during that time, and it has remained one of her most vivid childhood memories.

After high school, she attended Sacramento Jr. College, spent 18 months in Maryknoll Sisters Novitiate in Valley Park, Missouri. She returned to California where she met and married Second Lt. Louis S. Piccotti USAF, a Carbondale native. Celebrated with a Nuptial Mass in the chapel at Mather A.F.B., CA, Anne Marie and Lou began their life together as a military family traveling throughout the United States and abroad. Above all, her greatest joy in life was being a wife and mother to her eleven children. Together, they moved nine times with the Air Force and finally returned to Idaho in 1979.

One of her greatest talents was the ability to whip up a small treat and friendly banter with those who came through her doorway. She was truly elated to see the many friends and family who would gather around her family table. She was also especially fond of her garden and received joy watching her flowers bloom with vibrant colors each Spring.

Anne Marie was very active within her local community and was a proud member of St. Mark's Catholic Church, Boise, ID, the Council of Catholic Women, Catholic Women's League, the Norwegian Club, the American-Italian Club, and the Idaho Bocce Ball Club. She was also an exceptional, lifelong vocalist and pianist, and with her passion for music, she traveled with the Treasure Valley Community College Art Department Chorale to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Anne Marie is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Jerry Litell, sister, Mathilda Webb, and daughter, Jean Marie Piccotti.

She is survived by her children, Rose Marie Garner, Mary Slater, Anne Stafford, Louis "Joe" Piccotti, Rita Harding, John Piccotti, Carol Copp, Lynn Lockhart, Gene Piccotti, and Tony Piccotti; her 26 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and her two sisters, Sr. Mary C. Litell, and Cecilia Nixon.

Services were held on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 7960 W Northview St. in Boise, ID. The Rosary was held at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.

Family and friends attended committal services on Friday, January 6, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA, officiated by Rev. Seth Wasnak, pastor of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale, PA.

Arrangements were entrusted to Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
