Anna Mae Wood, age 74, of Carbondale, PA., died early Monday morning, April 24, 2006 at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton, PA., after a brief Illness. Her beloved husband of 46 years is Stephen J. Wood, Jr.
Born August 13, 1931 in Carbondale, PA. She was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Angelina (Senec) Apostolico.
She had resided in Norwich, Connecticut for over 50 years and was employed as a cashier at Berrys Dry Cleaning of Norwich before her retirement. She was a graduate of the Benjamin Franklin High School and was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, both of Carbondale.
She was an extraordinary woman who was very kind and compassionate and helped everyone in need. Anyone who truly knew Anna Mae knew what a wonderful person she was. She loved to cook and read. She was a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend who will be deeply missed.
She is survived by two sisters: Madelyn and husband Frank Homets and Carmella and husband Al Carpenter, all of Carbondale, PA.; one brother: Michael and wife Ann Marie (Cookie) Apostolico of Carbondale, PA; a sister-in-law: Cheryln Apostolico of Carbondale, PA; 13 Nieces Nephews; Several Great Nieces Nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother: Anthony (Pistol) Apostolico
The funeral was held Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 9:00 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. William B. Campbell, senior priest. Interment, St. Josephs Cemetery, Norwich, CT.
A private visitation for family members was held Wednesday, April 26, 2006 from 7-9 PM.
Pallbearers: Al Carpenter, Jr., Frank Homets, Jr., Michael Apostolico, Jr., Anthony Apostolico Jr., Joseph Amadio Sr., Joseph Amadio, Jr., David Nevins and Jack Iyoob all Nephews.
