Obituary

Anna Clark Manzer, 93, of South Gibson, PA., died early Friday, October 10, 2008 at home. She was the wife of the late Jefferson A. Jeff Manzer who died September 12, 2004. They had been married for 63 years. Together, they prepared three children for life, love and faith with God and Christ as their anchor. Born May 20, 1915 in Lock Haven, PA., she was the daughter of the late Boyd and Mae (McGill) Clark. She was a graduate of the Clarks Summit High School. She obtained a Bachelor's degree in Home Economics and a Master's degree in library science from Marywood College, Scranton, PA. She had been employed as a home economics teacher in the Mountain View School District for over 20 years. She was a member of the South Gibson United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women's organization. She was also a member of the Phoenix Club in Union Dale, PA., the Kingsley Civic Club, the Gibson Grange #798, the Retired Teacher's of Susquehanna County and the Pennsylvania Vocational Education Association. Anna was very proud of being a teacher and over the years she had mentored many student teachers. She also taught a literacy program to those who could not read. With teaching being her passion, she taught the adult Sunday school class at her church. Anna completed her earthly journey in the arms of Jesus and her family, and has now returned to her heavenly Father. She is survived by one son: Boyd Manzer and wife Jayne of South Gibson, PA.; two daughters: Linda Hay and husband Phil of Wichita, KS. and Markie Pratt of Brooklyn, PA.; five grandchildren: Cannice Decker and husband David, Scott Hay, Kerri and Dustin Pratt and Sarah Manzer; three great grandchildren: Bailey, Allie and Jessica Decker; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son: Duane Manzer, one grandson: T.J. Manzer; one sister: Anita Warner. A memorial service took place Sunday, November 2, 2008 at 2:00 PM in the South Gibson United Methodist Church, with Rev. Barbara Doan, officiating. Interment, Manzer Cemetery, South Gibson. Arrangements were under the direction of the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Clifford, PA. Memorial Contributions may be made to the South Gibson United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
