Ann Marie Symons, 65, of Greenfield Township, PA., died Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA., after a lengthy illness. Her husband of 42 years is Russell Symons. Born in Peckville, PA., she was the daughter of the late William and Margaret Toolan Tasonyi. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church in Carbondale and was educated in St. Michael's Parochial School in Jessup, PA. and graduated from Blakely High School in Peckville, PA. In March of 1971 she married Russell Symons of Carbondale and they moved to Virginia. After her marriage, she attended the Woodbridge Beauty Academy in Woodbridge, VA. where she attained her beautician's license. She operated a successful beauty shop in Woodbridge where she lived with her family for 40 years. Upon retirement, her and her husband moved back to Pennsylvania in November 2009 where they built a home in Greenfield Township. She loved gardening, decorating, playing tennis, reading her bible and playing with her grandchildren. She had a witty sense of humor and could always lighten a situation with a humorous response. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who will be greatly missed. She is survived by two daughters: Kimberly Lisack and husband John of South Riding, VA. and Leslie Seal and husband Paul of Burke, VA.; one sister: Karen Tasonyi of Peckville, PA.; three grandchildren: Allison and Christina Lisack and Jackson Seal. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, September 27, 2013 at 9:30 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. John C. O'Bell, associate pastor. A private visitation was held for immediate family on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
