Ann M. Nelson, 89, of Carbondale, PA, died Friday afternoon, February 14, 2014 at the Forest City Nursing Home, Forest City, PA. She was preceded in death by her first husband Walter Hodgins and her second husband Harry Nelson, who died March 6. 1996.
Born April 21, 1924 in Carbondale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Thornton Mannion.
She was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and St. Mary's School of Nursing, Scranton, PA. Prior to her retirement in 1987, she had been employed as a LPN at St. Joseph's Hospital in Carbondale and Farview State Hospital in Waymart, PA. She was a member of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Nurses Association, St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale and the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, Carbondale.
She is survived by one son: James Hodgins of Carbondale, PA; three stepchildren: Anne, Judy and Harry; several nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by one son: Thomas Hodgins.
As per her request, she was cremated and inurnment took place at St. Rose Cemetery, Carbondale, PA.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
