Obituary

Ann Popovitch DeBrocco Mancuso, age 85, a resident of the Carbondale Nursing Home, Carbondale, PA., died Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley, Wilkes-Barre, PA. She was the wife of the late Anthony Cookie Mancuso, who died August 24, 1990. Born February 5, 1924 in Simpson, PA., she was the daughter of the late Michael and Kathryn Popovitch.She was a 1939 graduate of Fell Township High School, Simpson. She worked in Republic Aviation in New York City during World War II where she worked as an aircraft riveter on the P 47 Fighter Aircraft. After the war, she returned to Simpson to raise her family. Later in life she also worked in the medical records department at General Hospital, Carbondale.She is a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale and its Altar and Rosary Society and a former member of S.S. Peter and Paul Greek Catholic Church, Simpson. She enjoyed her trips to Atlantic City and playing bingo.The family would like to sincerely thank the Carbondale Nursing Home and Dr. Matthew Haley for all of their wonderful care, support and love shared with Ann over the past two years and ICU staffs at Marian Community Hospital and Geisinger Wyoming Valley for the special care given to Ann for the past two weeks.She is survived by one daughter: Kathryn Kitty Golin of Carbondale, PA.; one son: Robert DeBrocco and wife Sharon Allison of Lexington, KY.; one sister: Antoinette Bronchella of Forest City, PA.; four grandchildren: Valorie Golin, Nicole, Richard and Michael DeBrocco; one great grandson: Jacob Michael DeBrocco; several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by four sisters: Gertrude Capinsky, Barbara Wagenbrennar, Mary Arbolino and Dorothy Wagner; four brothers: Nicholas, Stephen, Peter and John Popovitch.The funeral was held Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 11:00 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Inc., Farview 41st Streets, Carbondale, PA., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. Russell E. Motsay, pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Michael DeBrocco, Richard DeBrocco, Patrick Arbolino, Michael Klobucar, Steve Allison and Mark Allison. Friends called Friday, March 6, 2009 from 5-8 PM.Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 57 N. Franklin Street, Wilkes Barre, PA. 18701 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
