Ann Marie McAndrew Leikert, of Staten Island, NY, was called home to God on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Richmond University Hospital, Staten Island. She was surrounded by loved ones.
Born in Carbondale, PA, she was daughter of the late Frank and Anna Martin McAndrew.
Ann was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School and St. Joseph's School of Nursing, Carbondale. She began her career at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, New York City, and went on to Continental Insurance and retired from Bank of New York. She was a devoted member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Staten Island, and was a life-long fan of University of Notre Dame athletics.
Nursing was Ann's vocation, but more importantly she was a treasure to her family. Ann always had ears to listen, words of sage advice, arms to hug and hold, and a heart made of pure gold.
She is survived by two sisters: Clarita McAndrew and Meg Flynn; numerous nieces and nephews and dear friend and neighbor, Lyle.
She was also preceded in death by James, Joseph and Thomas McAndrew, Frank and Mary McAndrew, Jack Flynn and Marguerite and Walter Connolly.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, June 7, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. from St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church Street, Carbondale, PA, celebrated by Rev. Seth Wasnock, pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
Pallbearers: Declan Dougherty, Brendan Dougherty, Eddie Keating, Jackie Keating, Shawn Connolly, Chris Martines and Brian Martines.
A viewing was held Friday, June 7, 2024 from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. at the church.
