Ann Hess, 71, of Gouldsboro, PA and Lakeland, FL, died August 9, 2017 at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA. Born in Carbondale, PA, daughter of the late Hubert and Margaret States Griffin, she graduated from Ben Franklin High School class of 1963. Ann was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend and she will be greatly missed. She is survived by a daughter, Marie Hering and husband, Randall, Gouldsboro, PA; a son, James "Jake" Hess and wife Robin, Pocono Lake, PA; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Sally Kane, Margaret Griffin, Kathleen Schermerhorn and Julie Sejpal; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Hess; a sister, Mary Allison; three brothers, Hubert, William and James Griffin; and a granddaughter, Danielle Hess. Private arrangements were entrusted to Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
