Ann J. (McGuire) Coombes, age 74, of Carbondale, PA., died Monday evening, May 24, 2010 at the Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale. She is the wife of Thomas Coombes, Sr., of Carbondale. Born September 11, 1935 in Scranton, PA., she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Chupko) McGuire. She was a former member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale and enjoyed baking, cooking, decorating cakes and knitting. She is survived by one daughter: Maryann Coombes of Carbondale, PA.; three sons: Thomas Coombes of Olyphant, PA., Steven Coombes of Waymart, PA. and Michael Coombes and wife Brenda of Carbondale, PA.; one brother: Michael McGuire of Peckville, PA.; grandchildren: Christina Gravine, Matthew, Shawn and Ronald Balmer, Patrick and Joshua Coombes, Nina Wright, Michael, Jr., Emily, Shane, Conner, Steven and Tiffany Coombes; several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother: Cornelius McGuire. A blessing service was held Friday, May 28, 2010 at 12:00 PM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview 41st Streets, Carbondale, with Rev. William D. Campbell, senior priest, officiating. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Friends called Friday, May 28, 2010 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Pallbearers: Thomas, Michael and Steven Coombes and Matthew, Ronald and John Balmer.
