Ann Marie Alampi, 65, of Jessup, PA., died Tuesday morning, December 27, 2011 at Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater, FL., surrounded by her children.
Born July 7, 1946 in Carbondale, PA., she was the daughter of the late Carl and Rita (Wisneski) Alampi.
She was a graduate of the Benjamin Franklin High School and was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale.
Ann Marie loved to ballroom dance and took great pleasure in teaching others. She was a member of several area dance groups and could be frequently be seen dancing on WVIA's ballroom dance program. Being a very creative person, she also enjoyed sewing and quilting. Always a warm weather person she loved spending time at her home in Florida, especially with her family. She loved the beach and driving in her convertible with the top down listening to her favorite music. She fulfilled her final wish to make one last trip to Florida before her passing.
Having been a cancer survivor for the past 20 years she always faced her illness in a positive and optimistic manner. Her beautiful smile and big blue eyes always made a lasting impression on everyone she met. Even during the lowest points of her illness she always kept her dignity and took great pride in her sense of fashion and style. In the words of her granddaughter Stephanie she was and will always be a hero to many people including me. Her family will fondly remember her as a great mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend but most of all she was just a good person.
She is survived by one daughter: Denise Bomba and husband Edward of Mayfield, PA.; two sons: Dennis Wayman and wife Michelle of Myrtle Beach, SC. and Scott Wayman and wife Michelle of Carbondale, PA.; four grandchildren: Dennis, Justin, Stephanie and Alexandra Wayman, as well as, her beloved Gracie whom she considered her fifth grandchild; one brother: Carl Alampi and companion Sheri of Las Vegas, NV.; five sisters: Carolyn Matrone and husband Alphonse of Clarks Summit, PA., Donna Hajos and husband Joseph of Scott Township, PA., Rita DiLeo of Factoryville, PA., Joyce Ulibarri and husband Sabino of Las Vegas, NV. and Jean Marie Long and husband Eddie Mallas of Jessup, PA.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
