Angelina N. Gerek, 98, of Lorain, OH, died Monday, April 21, 2014 at the Anchor Lodge Nursing Home, Lorain. She was the wife of John F. Gerek who died in 1992.
Born in Mayfield, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Amelia (Iovana) Lagana.
After leaving Mayfield she resided in Buffalo, New York for five years and than resided the past 55 years in Lorain, Ohio. She was a member of the former St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lorain and helped run the church bingo for many years. She was a life member of the ladies auxiliary of the VFW Post 451 in Lorain.
She is survived by one son: John S. Gerek of Lorain, OH; adopted daughter, Flo Gilles of Lorain, OH; three step grandchildren: Angie Joplin and husband Frank of Mount Washington, KY, Dennis Rourke and wife Becky of Elyria, OH and Ron Smith and wife Kari of Wakeman, OH; nine step great grandchildren: Brianne, Dean, Bianca, Heather, Amanda, Ashley, Austyn, David and Dana; three step great great grandchildren: Anthony, Alexander and Alana; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: Guy and John Lagana; two sisters: Catherine Lagana and Mary Noverini.
A private graveside service was held Friday, April 25, 2014 at 10:30 AM in Calvary Cemetery, Mayfield, PA.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
