Amanda Marie Giglia Prawdzik, 42, of Carbondale, PA, died Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the home of her parents surrounded by her family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. Born February 26, 1976 in Scranton, PA, she is the daughter of Philip and Jill Tarr Giglia of Carbondale. Amanda was a 1994 graduate of Carbondale Area High School and attended Penn State University Worthington Campus prior to her battle with cancer. She worked as a graphic designer for Donnelly Directory, a teacher's assistant at the Sacred Heart Elementary School, Carbondale, and recently was a bartender at the Moxie Club, Carbondale. Amanda loved spending time with her family and friends and cherished her time with her daughters. The family would like to thank the staffs of Dr. Haley, Dr. Heim and Charlie Lubash for all of their kindness and care to Amanda during her illness. She is survived by her husband: E.J. Prawdzik, of Simpson, PA; two daughters: Aricka Giglia and Casey Prawdzik, both of Carbondale, PA; one sister: Angela Morrison and husband Billy of Greenfield Township, PA; two nieces, Kendall and Gigliana Morrison of Greenfield Township, PA; paternal grandmother: Angela Tolerico of Carbondale, PA; two aunts: Norma and Tom Jones of Reeders, PA and Valerie and Harold Sneed of Waxahachie, TX; one great aunt: Maryann Kearney of Carbondale, PA; many close friends, including Laurel Masco and numerous cousins. She was also preceded in death by her paternal grandfather: Joseph "Tucker" Tolerico and maternal grandparents: Grace and Donald Eilenberger and Norman Tarr. The funeral was held Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. from the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. Paul Fontanella, assistant pastor. Cremation followed the Mass. Pallbearers: Dominick Cost, Joseph Mark, Christopher Bianco, John Masco, Anthony Bucklaw and Frank Brennan. Friends called Monday, March 12, 2018 from 4-7 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations were given to Amanda's daughters, Aricka and Casey.
