Alwin P. "Al" Granville, 81, of Forest City, PA, and formerly of Carbondale, PA, died Saturday, September 10, 2022 at the Carbondale Nursing Center, after an illness. Born November 3, 1940 in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of the late Earl and Rosella Fortuner Granville. Al was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and was a self-employed contractor prior to his retirement. He loved his Philadelphia Eagles and enjoyed fishing, but even more talking about it. He was a proud grandfather and his grandchildren were the apple of his eye. A devoted father, son, brother and uncle, he was broken hearted and never recovered over the loss of his son, Joe. He is survived by six children: Al Granville, Jr. and wife, Christine of Mount Cobb, PA, Greg Granville of Nescopeck, PA, Christine Davis and husband, Scott of Forest City, PA, Patricia Granville and fiancé, Scott Brighton of Scranton, PA, Earl Granville of Scott Township, PA, and Maura Mitchell and husband, Seth of Clarks Summit, PA; a daughter-in-law: Stephanie Granville of Greenfield Township, PA; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Paul Granville of Carbondale, PA, Harry Granville of Carbondale, PA, and Philip Granville of Richmondale, PA; seven sisters: Elizabeth Opalka of Carbondale, PA, Ann Barnowski of Forest City, PA, Rose Greene of Carbondale, PA, Mary Roche of Carbondale, PA, Beatrice Okrasinski of East Benton, PA, Cathy Ball of East Benton, PA, and Florence Palmiero of South Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a son: SSgt. Joseph Granville; a granddaughter: Tisha Harhut, and four brothers, Earl, Jr., Claude, Joseph and James Granville.
