Obituary

Alice Vivian Pease, 77, formerly of Montrose, PA., died Friday, December 28, 2012 at the Osprey Ridge Health Care Center, Carbondale, PA. Born on March 18, 1935 in Covington, VA., she was the daughter of the late Hayes and Alice Noble Nickell and the former wife of the late Rev. Henry J. Pease. She was a graduate of Central City Business School, Syracuse, NY. She retired as a court stenographer for the New York Attorney General's Office and also worked in special education at NEIU 19 in Montrose. Music was important in her life and she was a member of The Montrose Music Club, along with being one of the founding members of the Church Street Singers. She enjoyed musicals and acting and was a member of the Susquehanna Players having many main roles. She was of the Episcopal faith and was active in St. Paul's Choir in Montrose, St. Stephen's Pro Cathedral Choir in Wilkes-Barre, PA. and St. Barnabas Choir in Philadelphia, PA. She was also a former member of the Pennsylvania Federation of Women's Clubs serving as first vice president and was active in the Girl Scouts of America serving as a neighborhood director and a Girl Scout Leader in Wyoming, PA. She is survived by one daughter: Sandra Darde of Montrose, PA.; a son-in-law: Terry Joseph Darde of South Montrose, PA.; one son: John Stephen Pease; a sister: Lillian DeVenny and husband John of Virginia Beach, VA.; a brother: Harry Nickell and wife Pauline of Covington, VA.; grandsons: Eric Darde, Bradley Darde, Dominic Pease and Simon Pease; a great granddaughter: Ryleigh J. Darde; a cousin: Ramona Ortiz of Queens, NY. She was preceded in death by a grandson: Francisco Pease; a brother: James Nickell; a half brother: Richard Nickell; a sister: Sara Rhodes. A memorial service was held Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 12:10 PM from St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 276 Church Street, Montrose, PA., with Father Paul T. Towers, officiating. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
