Albert F. Connor age 81, of 18 Main Street, Clifford died early Friday morning, November 22, 2002 at home after a brief illness. His wife is the former Rose DeFazio.
Born September 2, 1921 in Carbondale, PA. He was the son of the late William A. and Alice (Linnen)Connor. He lived most of his life with Mr. Mrs. Dorrance Burdick.
Prior to his retirement he was employed as a truck driver for Northeastern Techinal Institute (NTI) in Fleetville. He was a World War II Army veteran having served as a Sergeant with 505th Airborne Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division. He participated in several battles including the invasion of North Africa and the Battle of the Bulge where he was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received on January 13, 1945. He also received the American Defense Service Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale.
He is survived by two daughters: Alice Hall of Westminster, CO. and Patricia Elliott of Ellicottville, NY.; two sisters: Eleanor Lynady of Carbondale, PA. and Nan Verrill of Arizona; One Half Sister: Cathy Rourke of Maryland; One Half Brother: Robert Connor of Maryland; 4 Grandchildren
He was preceded in death by two sons: Francis J. Connor, who was killed in the Vietnam War and Anthony J. Connor, who died in 1995; One brother: Walter Connor
The funeral was held Monday, November 25, 2002 at 10:00 am from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc. Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale with mass at 10:30 am in St. Rose Of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. Thomas J. McDermott, Assistant Pastor. Interment, Mother Of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Twp.
