Agnes V. DiBiasi, 79, of Scranton, PA., died Sunday morning, January 29, 2012 at the Mountain View Care Center, Scranton. She was the wife of the late Patrick DiBiasi who died in 1981.
She was born and raised in Olyphant, PA., and was the daughter of the late Simon Awiza, Sophie Awiza and Veronica Awiza.
She was a graduate of Olyphant High School and prior to her retirement, she had been employed at Pawnee Pants Manufacturing and Magnum Screening both of Olyphant. She was a member of S.S. Anthony and Rocco Parish, Dunmore, PA.
She was an avid Penn State Football fan and enjoyed being surrounded by her family and friends. Agnes adored her granddaughter, Concetta who brought so much joy to her life and gave her so much hope for living during her extended illness.
She is survived by one daughter: Tricia DiBiasi-Thomas and husband Jeff of Eynon, PA.; one granddaughter: Concetta Thomas; one sister: Helen Norville of Elmhurst, PA.; one sister-in-law: Hilda DiBiasi of Olyphant, PA.; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: Benjamin Awiza and William Mulligan; three sisters: Florence Mayeski, Helen Miller and Verna Puskas.
The funeral was held Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 8:30 AM from the Hudak-O'Shea Funeral Home, 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 208 Smith Street, Dunmore, celebrated by Msgr. William Ward and Deacon Carmine Mendicino. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
Pallbearers: Joseph Mayeski, Joseph Paciotti, Sr., Joseph Paciotti, Jr., John Bielski, Sr. and John Bielski, Jr.
Friends called Monday, January 30, 2012 from 4-8 PM and Tuesday, January 31, 2012 from 8:00 AM to 8:30 AM at the funeral home.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
