Charlene Mae Chubb, 83, of Williamsport, PA, died Friday, March 21, 2025 at the Williamsport Home, after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Frederick C. Chubb on July 13, 2023. Charlene and Fred grew up together in their hometown of Carbondale and she always referred to him as her one true love.
Born May 14, 1941 in Carbondale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Derwood J. and Eleanor Breese Williams.
She was fondly called Leenie by family and friends and graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale. Charlene and Fred moved to Williamsport many years ago to build a life and family together. She had been employed as a manager at Cobblers Shoe Store and the Shoe Box in Williamsport. She attended the First United Methodist Church of Williamsport and was a member of Berean Baptist Church, Carbondale, where she and Fred were married and served on the Board of directors. She taught Sunday school and was a teen church group leader. Charlene and Fred were also active band parents for the WAHS Marching Millionaires.
Charlene took after her father and played the accordion, she did ceramics and took a cake decorating class. Her favorite past time was shopping and attending craft shows. She was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking especially experimenting with new recipes. Newton Lake held a special place in her heart as she had many fond memories growing up and making many longtime friends there.
She will also be remembered for her love of animals and her many beloved animal friends. She was proud of her extensive collection of dolls and snowmen. She cherished the time spent with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be deeply missed by her family and everyone who called her Aunt Char.
She is survived by two children: Karen Mae Lilley and husband, Stephen of Cogan Station, PA, and Jeffrey Charles Chubb and wife, Susan of Blandon, PA; two grandchildren: Joey McGinty and wife, Betsy and Jen McGinty and partner, Jordan Eck; five great-grandchildren: Jaxton, Jacoby, Calvin, Brady and Gia, a brother: James D. Williams and wife, Eilene; and her grand dog's: Callie and Cooper.
A viewing was held Friday, March 28, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, PA. A funeral procession left the funeral home following the viewing for a graveside service at Canaan Corners Cemetery, Waymart, PA, with Rev. Donald Perry, officiating.
Pallbearers: Jeffrey Chubb, Stephen Lilley, Jordan Eck and Joe McGinty.
